New Zealand - South Island - Wanaka (02/10/2007)

We were gradually snaking our way South, at about this time I realised that the beauty of being in NZ isn´t so much about being in a place it´s about getting. As someone famous once said "life is a journey not a destination", in fact they may not have have been famous at tall. But my point being, that driving from place to place in NZ is fun, the roads wind through mountains and around lakes all the time, there is hardly any traffic and people you do see seem to be in no particular hurry. Wanaka is another small place on a big lake, I think Coralie wanted to write about it as she liked the carrot cake we had there. It´s a pretty place and by the looks of things must tourists stay a little longer than us.
Pictures:
1. View on the approach to Wanaka.
2. Me driving, did I mention that Frenchie "forgot" to pack her driving licence before leaving home to go travelling for a year?
3. Picture quickly knocked up by Roadrunner to fool that Kyoto.
4. Another view of lake on which Wanake is situated.
